Step into a vivid celebration of photographic excellence as MAGNET Galleries unveils The Prahran Legacy – Beyond the Basement, a powerful tribute to the alumni of Prahran College’s iconic photography program.

The exhibition opened with a flourish, drawing a crowd of over 200 photographers, creatives, and friends for an afternoon of vibrant storytelling, reflection and reunion. With 140 works from 39 former students spanning the 1970s and 80s, the exhibition captures the legacy of one of Melbourne’s most influential creative institutions.

Officially opened by exhibitor and co-curator James McArdle, with additional remarks from chief curator Merle Hathaway, the event marked a memorable moment for the local arts scene. But beyond the images, it was a day defined by connection – joyful encounters, shared memories, and enduring inspiration.
