Australia’s largest Built-to-Rent development receives the green light from the Minister for Planning
District Living, one of the country’s largest Build-to-Rent developments, will now become a reality following the nod of approval from the Minister for Planning.
The $700M plus project will be delivered by AsheMorgan and once complete will provide over 900 Build To Rent apartments across two buildings on Little Docklands Drive adjacent to The District’s everyday convenience precinct – Market Lane.
The Minister for Planning Sonya Kilkenny and Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan made the announcement onsite this morning.
The approval of the project is a huge vote of confidence in The District and will be a fantastic new addition as it continues to evolve into one of Melbourne’s most unique and vibrant mixed-use precincts where Melburnians and visitors to Melbourne can stay, play, work, eat and live.
The project will include:
- 925 apartments
- a mix of studios, one, two, and three-bedroom including Soho-style apartments across two levels
- 4,000 sqm+ of amenity
- residents will have access to a state-of-the-art wellness centre inclusive of a fitness studio, plunge pool, sauna and steam room and a stunning sky terrace with kitchen, dining and relaxation spaces
- 2,500 sqm of private outdoor space including an outdoor dog park and dog wash, an outdoor fitness area, and large green open spaces for residents
- there will also be retail spaces on the ground floor
- 1,700 sqm of public outdoor open space
AsheMorgan Development Director Mat Stoddart said having the approval and support from the Planning Minister, as well as the Victorian Premier, demonstrates a need for a project such as this. “The project will help cater to the growing demand for high-quality apartments within the suburb, in particular, families who want to live in the Docklands Primary catchment and those already renting.
“We are thankful to both the Planning Minister and the Victorian Premier for supporting our vision,” he said.
