Photography by COLIN ABBOTT of ANZAC Day commemorations in Melbourne 1974, 1977, 1979 and 1981

A classic black-and-white collection that focusses on the people involved in ANZAC Day parades during the 70s : the old Anzac diggers in their dwindling numbers,  the first sighting of family members and children taking part in the marches, the iconic horses, slouch hats and emu plumes of the Australian Light Horse, with some of the riders being World War 1 veterans.

This valuable series connects directly with the original Anzacs themselves while also acknowledging the veterans of many later conflicts – World War 2, Korea and Vietnam.

The exhibition is open for viewing from 25 April  (ANZAC Day).   Formally opened by TIM LEE (Senior reporter, ABC “Landline”) on Sunday 28 April 2-4pm.
